Midtown is located in the geographical center of the island, and roughly bounded by North Roosevelt Boulevard (U.S. Route 1), Leon Street, Atlantic Avenue and 1st Street. When using the MLS system, Midtown properties also include everything east of White and north of United.
The architecture of the homes south of Truman, west of Leon Street and north of United is similar to Old Town and the Meadows with many of them being built to house the cigar workers when cigar making was a main enterprise of Key West in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The other areas of Mid Town are similar to New Town, being built in the 1940s thru the 1960s.
Bayview park is the recreation and cultural center of MidTown. Everything from Friday night softball under the lights, to evening tennis, Farmers Market, Friday night outside movies and special events and concerts keep the park active.
An additional resource, USA.com provides Census and other data on Key West and its varied neighborhoods.
The Key West Association of Realtors provides an excellent map detailing the neighborhoods and streets of each of the neighborhoods.
